Excel Formulas and Functions is a tool-based technical workshop designed to equip participants with essential spreadsheet formatting, formula creation, and data analysis skills, enhancing their efficiency and accuracy in data-driven tasks.

This workshop covers key functions, including date, math, lookup, text, and logical functions, along with a review of PivotTables, enabling learners to manage and analyze datasets proficiently. Participants will gain practical skills through discussion and simulations to efficiently summarize, analyze, and visualize data, enhancing their proficiency in Excel for effective data-driven decision-making.

Spreadsheet Formatting

Mastering spreadsheet formatting ensures that data is presented clearly and professionally, which is vital for effective organizational communication and decision-making. Proper formatting improves readability, enhances the visual appeal of spreadsheets, and effectively highlights key information.

Formula Building and Streamlining

Building formulas empowers users to streamline calculations and data processing tasks, improving efficiency and reducing errors. Knowing how to copy and paste formulas correctly saves time and ensures data analysis and reporting consistency. Participants will also learn to use various library functions (date, math, and statistical) to efficiently handle diverse data analysis tasks.

Foundations of PivotTables

Participants will learn to create and utilize PivotTables, enabling them to summarize and analyze datasets efficiently. This segment covers organizing data, setting up PivotTables, using PivotCharts for dynamic visual representation, and advanced filtering techniques with Slicers and Timelines to enhance data analysis capabilities.

Frequently Asked Questions

This workshop is for Excel users who aim to improve their efficiency in using Excel for data management and analysis. Additionally, individuals interested in enhancing their spreadsheet proficiency will find this workshop valuable for mastering Excel functions.
Pre-work is not necessary for this course. However, the facilitator may contact or send a pre-class survey before the session to better understand and appropriately prepare for the learners' needs.

Course materials will be provided on the training day and may be shared beforehand upon request.
Enrollment in Excel Functions Essentials grants you access to a StoryIQ Master Facilitator who will guide you through the core course material. You will also receive useful resources and practice materials related to the course.
All participants who complete the class will receive a digital certificate of completion that can be shared on LinkedIn.
Learning doesn't have to end when the class is over! Facilitators are available to clarify and answer questions even after the session. Learners may also opt-in to the StoryIQ email list, which includes weekly data literacy and data storytelling tips and tricks.
